TheCable hereby retracts its story “‘Generation of mannerless children’, Ajimobi’s daughter hits back at LAUTECH students” published on January 15, 2017.

The newspaper also offers its unreserved apology to Ajibola Ajimobi, daughter of Abiola Ajimobi, governor of Oyo state, whom was wrongly credited with the statement.

Quoting an Instagram account erroneously believed to belong to the governor’s daughter, the story, published on January 15, 2017, had quoted Ajibola as saying: “Generation of Mannerless children, they don’t respect their parents, how will they respect the Constitution?”

We have since established that Ajibola is not the owner of the account used to pass the comment on the altercation between the governor and students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), who were protesting the eight-month closure of the institution

Realising its error two days after the publication, TheCable has since pulled down the story and also published Ajibola’s denial of the account.
