Rivers United suffer Confederations Cup defeat
Rivers United were defeated by Kampala City Council Authority 2-1 in the CAF Confederation Cup encounter on Saturday.
Although KCCA enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and had several chances, they could only get on the score sheet twice.
Tom Masiko had the first goal-threatening attempt of the game when he tried a shot from 35 yards out but Rivers’ Sunday Rotimi was equal to the task.
Derrick Nsibambi broke the deadlock 15th minute when he caught the Rivers United defense napping.
Rotimi was taken off due to injury in the 32nd minute and replaced with Akande Abiodun.
The Nigerian side drew level when Bolaji Sakin converted from close range in the 33rd minute.
KCCA and Rivers United went into the break 1-1.
But Nsibambi scored his second goal of the afternoon in the 71st minute to hand the home side the victory.
