‘Robber’ stabs BUK student at hostel, flees with her phone

An unidentified person on Thursday night attacked and stabbed a female student of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) on the neck at the female hostel on the new campus.

The victim was reportedly attacked around 3am while she was about entering her room after returning from night study.

The assailant also snatched her phones and some other belongings.

According to one of the students, the victim’s cry for help attracted her neighbours but by the time they arrived at the scene, the attacker was nowhere to be found.

Confirming the incident, Shamsudeen Umar, dean of student affairs, said the affected student is responding to treatment.

He added that Muhammad Bello, vice- chancellor of BUK, has directed that adequate attention be accorded her while the incident be investigated throroughly.

Umar said as part of measures to curb such incidents, the perimeter fence of the female hostels will be increased with illumination to enhance security.
