Genort Rohr, Super Eagles technical adviser, says there is a chance that his current job is his toughest challenge yet, but he has no doubt that it is a massive one.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Zambia, the German expressed enthusiasm that Nigerian football fans would start supporting him once the results start coming in.

“The country has a population of 190 million, so you can imagine the excitement when the national team plays,”Rohr told FIFA1904 magazine.

“I don’t know if it’s my toughest challenge, but I do know it’s a massive one. It’s too early to talk about that; people need to get to know me better first, but I do feel that the FA is fully behind me.

“The rest will happen in due course. Our first World Cup qualifier will be in Zambia on 9 October, followed by my first big test at home to Algeria one month later.

“I’m excited about what’s to come.”

Reacting to questions about Nigeria having 10 coaches in the last six years, Rohr said:

“The stakes are certainly high, but I have to say that this team has a lot of potential.

“Nigeria are a cut above the teams I’ve coached in recent years. It’s a chance to live out the World Cup dream.”
