Russia has launched a missile attack on Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, prompting the country to place citizens on alert.
Lviv, a region bordering Poland, was also targeted in the attack which took place early Sunday morning.
The attack is Russia’s third pre-dawn missile bombardment of Ukraine in the last four days.
Polish authorities said one of the missiles violated the country’s airspace, adding that the air force has been placed on heightened readiness.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s air force said troops destroyed 18 of 29 Russia-launched missiles and 25 of 28 attack drones.
Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said the attack only caused minimal damage.
“The enemy continues massive missile terror against Ukraine,” Popko said on Telegram.
Bridget Brink, US ambassador to Ukraine, said Russia is violating international law. She also accused the country of having “no regard for millions of civilians”.
“For the third pre-dawn morning this week, all of Ukraine is under an air alert and has been advised to seek shelter,” Brink posted on X.
“Russia continues to indiscriminately launch drones and missiles with no regard for millions of civilians, violating international law.”

A militant attack on a Moscow concert hall on Friday has so far left 133 dead.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin had sought to link Ukraine to the shooting, saying the attackers had help from the neighbouring country.
Putin vowed to punish all those involved in the shooting.
Ukraine had however said the accusations were absurd while the Islamic State (ISIS) has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
Putin has declared March 24 a day of national mourning in Russia.
