Mohamed Salah is confident that he will be in Russia for the World Cup.

He was reduced to tears as he left the field during the first half of the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid in Kiev.

The Egyptian forward was wrestled to the ground after battling Sergio Ramos for the ball.

The 25-year-old, who dislocated his shoulder as a result of the tackle, assured fans that he will back sooner than expected.

“It was a very tough night, but I’m a fighter. Despite the odds, I’m confident that I’ll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need,” Salah tweeted on Sunday.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted during the post-match press conference that the injury was likely to be severe.

The Egypt FA subsequently tweeted to say the team doctor had spoken to Liverpool and Salah’s x-ray had shown ligament damage rather than a fracture.
