Saraki allots ‘juicy’ senate committees to critics

Bukola Saraki, senate president, has announced a reshuffling of the senate committee chairmen.

Saraki made the announcement on Thursday, shortly before the senate adjourned for a six-week break.

The list announced by Saraki shows that the environment committee will be chaired by Oluremi Tinubu, who previously chaired the senate committee on women affairs.

Kabiru Marafa, a huge critic of the senate president, was named chairman of the petroleum downstream committee, with Philip Aduda his vice. Marafa previously chaired the committee on national population.

Adamu Aliero was named chairman of aviation, while Baran Jibrin will chair tertiary institution.

Binta Mazi Garba will now take charge of women affairs committee.

Saraki further named Hope Uzodinma to take charge of customs, while Baran Jibrin will be in charge tertiary education.

Public procurement, solid minerals, and power will now b chaired by Joshua Dariye, James Manager and Enyinya Abaribe respectively.

The senate president named Sulieman Adokwe to take charge of information and national orientation, while Sulieman Hukunyi, another anti-Saraki senator, will take charge of national identity.

Legislative compliance, rules and business and federal character will now be chaired by Baba Jidari Omoworare, Baba Garba and Tijani Kaura respectively.

Furthermore, Ahmed Ogembe and Ovia Omo-Agege were named vice chairs of marine and lands.
