Scroll Report, an online media platform, will hold  a day conference on insecurity and corruption.

The conference themed “Fighting Corruption and Insecurity: The Way Forward” will take place at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday morning.

In a statement on Tuesday, Janet Afolabi, publisher of Scroll Report, said the conference is meant “to assess the fight against corruption and the prevailing security situation in the country. ”

Afolabi, who is a CNN award-winning journalist, said many persons have been displaced due to the problem of insecurity in the country.

“Due to insecurity about two million Nigerians are estimated to have fled their homes, the refugee crisis has entered its sixth year and there is conflict induced food insecurity and malnutrition, hence, about 3.5 million Nigerians remain food insecure despite government and humanitarian aid,” the statement read.

The award-winning journalist said the media has a role to play in sustaining democracy in Nigeria.

She said the role can be played “by seeking solutions through conferences, workshops and seminars.”
