Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), says he will provide 30 million jobs for Nigeria if elected president.

Adebayo spoke in a chat with Arise News TV on Wednesday.

The SDP presidential candidate said he intends to revitalise factories and “redirect the wastage of funds into infrastructure”.

Adebayo said he had reached an agreement with the “US Chamber of Commerce, and I have been able to get about 2000 companies” willing to invest in Nigeria.

“This is how we are going to create 30 million jobs for Nigerians. Within the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce, the job that we can create will be at least 10 million,” he said.

“Most of the factories that were in Lagos while I was in Lagos have all closed down. Why did they close down? Because of macroeconomic factors. So those jobs will come back on their own if you change all those macroeconomic factors.

“Within the economy, if we are able to redirect the wastage of funds into infrastructure, we will be able to create jobs. If we create an environment where farmers can go to work in Oke Ogun, southern Kaduna and lower Niger, those areas are insecure.

“I spoke with the US chamber of commerce and I have been able to get about 2000 companies, who are willing to come to Nigeria to help with agriculture, green energy and many more.”

Adebayo added that he would eradicate poverty in Nigeria within just 18 months of being president.
