Umar Damagum, acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has condemned the action of the federal capital territory administration (FCTA) for sealing the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Earlier today, FCTA sealed the PDP secretariat due to an alleged failure to pay ground rent.
Shortly after the development, the PDP’s national caucus convened an emergency meeting at the Bauchi state governor’s lodge in Asokoro.
Damagum described the action of the FCTA as “the highest irresponsibility” from the government.

“In fact, if they want to arrest all of us, we are ready for that,” he said.
He added that the party would not tolerate such actions, which he believes are aimed at undermining democracy.
“They are trying to mar democracy, and this is not acceptable. We condemn it and assure them they will have to contend,” he added.

The opposition party’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting was initially scheduled to be held on Monday night.
Damagum said the meeting has been moved to Tuesday due to the sealing of the party’s secretariat.
