On June 14, 2024, Emomotimi Agama, the director-general of the SEC, urged capital market operators to embrace innovation and remain vigilant about its risks.

He said the SEC was aware of the new financial products and services emerging due to technology and is committed to modifying its regulations to address them.

On March 16, the commission announced plans to name and shame capital market operators violating market regulations.

The commission described the initiative as part of its broader strategy to uphold market integrity and boost investor confidence.
