Security agencies rescue abducted students in Plateau

Troops of operation safe haven (OPSH) and the police in Plateau have rescued three students who were abducted in the state.

TheCable had had reported that three persons were kidnapped on Wednesday by gunmen in Ban village behind the Plateau State Polytechnic.

Ubah Ogaba, Plateau police spokesperson, confirmed the rescue of the students in a statement on Thursday.

“A team of Police and OPSH personnel deployed to rescue the victims kidnapped yesterday at Ban village around the Main campus of the Plateau State Polytechnic, have rescued them,” the statement reads.

“They were rescued today at about 2:30 p.m. unhurt, and are presently with the Police.”

Ogaba said that efforts are ongoing to arrest members of the kidnap gang.

Speaking on the rescue operation, Ishaku Takwa, spokesperson of operation safe haven, said the troops deployed at Nding Sesut in Barkin Ladi LGA noticed an unusual movement of persons and embarked on a search of the area.

He said the search by the troops led to the rescue of the kidnap victims, who were found in an abandoned poultry farm.

Takwa also said the students have been reunited with their families while a manhunt is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
