The state secretariat of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Borno has been reportedly sealed off by security agents.

The party’s headquarters located in the Abbaganaram area, Maiduguri, the capital of Borno, was said to have been sealed on Thursday by the operatives of the Borno Urban Development Management Board.

The secretariat was reportedly shut down because the building is located in a neighbourhood not intended for political party activities.

Security personnel, including the police and civilian joint task force (CJTF), were reportedly positioned around the complex and at the gates.

Armoured vehicles were also said to have been stationed at the main entrance of the secretariat, preventing movement around the area.

Attom Mohammad Magira, the party’s senatorial candidate for Borno central, was also said to have been arrested.

Sani Kamilu, police public relations officer (PPRO) in Borno, did not respond to calls and text messages seeking comment on the development.
