The senate has confirmed Olubunmi Adetunmbi as chairman of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC).
Adetunmbi represented Ekiti north senatorial district in the ninth national assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also confirmed was Charles Akindiji Akinola as managing director of the commission, along with 16 other nominees who will serve as members and executive directors.
The confirmation followed the consideration of the report presented by the committee on the SWDC.

Presenting the report on Thursday, Yunus Akintunde, senator representing Oyo central, said the committee had examined the nominees’ academic qualifications, work experience, competence, and integrity.
“At the end of the screening exercise, the committee held a closed-door session where we deliberated on the nominees’ academic qualifications, work experiences, competencies, and integrity required for appointment,” Akintunde said.
“As at the time of this report, there is no adverse security report or petition before the committee against the nominees.

“The committee has established that both in fact and in law, the nominees have satisfied the requisite requirements and are hereby reaffirmed to be qualified, fit, and proper persons suitable as chairman and members of the South-West Development Commission.”
Others confirmed as members of the board include Bolaji Idris Ariyo from Lagos; Joseph Akin Olugbenga Olorunshola from Ekiti; Scholastic Olanike Omoworare from Osun; Oluwamuyiwa Timothy Olabintan from Ogun; Adewinle Olajide Martins from Ondo; and Ibrahim Adeniyi Olaifa from Oyo.
Kabiru Ado Lakwaya from the north-west; Abdul Biu Adamu from the north-east; Fagbemi Akinola Benjamin from the north-central; Ukoha Onyekwere from the south-east; and Alwell Ihenacho from the south-south were also confirmed as board members representing other geopolitical zones.
The executive directors confirmed are Olusegun Joshua Olufehinti as director of projects, Tele Ogunjobi as director of finance, Funmilayo Tejuosho, director of corporate services, Fatai Ibikunle, director of commercial and environmental development, and Lateef Oladimeji Ajijola, director of social and human capital development.
