The senate has confirmed Mohammed Bello as the new chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

The upper legislative chamber confirmed him on Tuesday after Olubunmi Adetunmbi, chairman of the committee on national planning and economic affairs, presented a report.

President Muhammadu Buhari nominated Bello for the position in June.

While presenting his report, Adetunmbi said the nominee met the requirements expected of him, adding that there was no petition against his nomination.

“From the available documents and the presentation made to the Committee, the nominee satisfies the requirement for appointment as the Chairman of Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission,” the senator said.

“The nominee is very well experienced and adequately exposed at the top levels of government administration and has acquired the capacity to function as chairman.

“The nominee is proper and fit to occupy the office of the chairman in the commission.”

Thereafter, Bello was confirmed after Senate President Ahmad Lawan put his nomination to a vote.

Bello, former secretary of the commission, will take over from Elias Mbam.
