Senate confirms Odion, Rabiu as FCCPC commissioners

The senate has confirmed the appointment of Louis Odion and Ummusalma Rabiu as executive commissioners of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

During Wednesday’s plenary, Adeniyi Adegbomire, senator representing Ondo central, moved the motion for the confirmation on behalf of Sadiq Suleiman, senator representing Kwara north.

Adegbomire said the committee on trade and investment completed the screening exercise on October 9.

“The committee interviewed the nominees and received details regarding their qualifications, experiences, suitability, competence, integrity. The senate committee recommends that the senate do confirm the appointments,” he said.

Odion from Edo (south-south) will serve as executive commissioner (operations), while Ummusalma Rabiu from Kano (north-west) as executive commissioner (corporate services).

Senators approved their appointments when it was out to a voice vote by Jibrin Barau, the deputy senate president.

“I congratulate the appointees. Their appointment is a call to serve their fatherland,” Barau said.
