Senate confirms three ambassadorial nominees

The senate has confirmed three nominees as career ambassadors.

President Muhammadu Buhari had sent their names to the upper legislative chamber for consideration in November 2018.

The confirmed nominees are Christopher Chejina (Delta), Bukar Kolo (Yobe) and M. A. Mabdul (Benue).

They were confirmed after a report was presented by Monsurat Sunmonu, chairperson of the senate committee on foreign affairs.

Sunmonu said the nominees met all the requirements expected of them after they had appeared before her committee.

“They are all qualified to hold positions,” she said.

In a smiliar development, the senate confirmed five nominess of the president as board members of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The nominees are Akinola Bashir (south-west), Moses Momoh (south-south), Wallijoh Danladi Ahijoh (north-central), Adam Modu (north-east), and Nwafor Paul Chukwudi (south-east).

The nominees were confirmed after Yale Omogunwa, deputy chairman of the committee on national planning, presented a report.

On his part, Senate President Bukola Saraki said: “Let me on behalf of the Senate congratulate the chairman and members of the board of National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), I wish them a successful tenure.”
