The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Mr. Osita Chidoka, the corps marshal and chief executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Dr. Sulaiman Abukakar, a lecturer at the University of Abuja as ministers.

President Goodluck Jonathan had sent the names of the new ministers for screening last week.

Fielding questions from the senators, Chidoaka, who had the support of senators from Anambra – his state – said the aviation industry can be revived through a collaborative effort between the private sector and the federal government.

Senator Chris Ngige, former governor of Anambra State, described Chidoaka as “a good product”.

Similarly, Senator Andy Uba, also from Anambra State, spoke in favour of the FRSC boss.

In the tradition of the upper legislative chamber, Senate President David Mark asked Abubakar and Chidoka to respectively take a bow before leaving the plenary.

Jonathan is expected to swear in the new ministers and assign them portfolios in the next one week.
