Senate President Bukola Saraki has said the 8th senate will probe the “fuel subsidy issue” again to ensure that Nigerians get value for their money.

In the heat of the January 2012 protest over the removal of the subsidy on petrol by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, the seventh national assembly launched a probe into the matter but the outcome did not see the light of day.

But on his Facebook page on Monday, Saraki said the current senate will revisit the issue.

“Eighth senate‬ will revisit the fuel subsidy issue on the floor of the Senate because it is one area through which we can demonstrate our commitment to transparency, probity and accountability in service delivery to our people,” he said.

“Fuel subsidy affects all Nigerians and we must ensure our people do not pay for the product and service they don’t enjoy.‎”
