President Bola Tinubu has written to the senate seeking the confirmation of Bernard Mohammed Doro as a minister.
On Tuesday, Tinubu nominated Doro from Plateau state as the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction
Doro’s nomination follows the election of Nentawe Yilwatda as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in July.
In a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary on Wednesday, Tinubu said the nomination was made in line with the provisions of section 147(2) of the 1999 constitution as amended.

“In compliance with the provisions of section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the president’s letter read.
“While I hope that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, distinguished Senate President and distinguished senators, the assurances of my highest regards.”
In his remarks, Akpabio referred the request to the committee of the whole for consideration.

“This is referred to the committee of the whole, to revert to the appointor as soon as practicable,” Akpabio said.
