The senate will hold a special session on Wednesday in honour of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari died on Sunday in a clinic in London, following a prolonged illness. He was buried at his residence in Daura, Katsina state, on Tuesday.
The decision was made on Tuesday following a motion moved by Gbenga Daniel, senator representing Ogun east, to honour Oba Sikiru Adetona, the late Awujale of Ijebuland.
The monarch died hours after the announcement of Buhari’s death, his longtime friend.

Opeyemi Bamidele, the senate majority leader, said the country lost two eminent citizens on the same day.
“By way of notice, Mr President and distinguished colleagues, Nigerians lost two illustrious sons on the same day. The second person, another icon, was His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,” Bamidele said.
