Senator seeks China’s support for education, agriculture in Akwa Ibom

Aniekan Bassey, senator representing Akwa-Ibom north-east, has solicited China’s support for enhancing education, infrastructure, and agriculture in the state.

Bassey made the request on Friday at a meeting with Cui Jianchun, the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, in Abuja.

Bassey commended the bilateral partnership between China and Nigeria over the years.

The senator said Akwa Ibom can learn from and replicate China’s development in education, infrastructure, vocational skills, and agriculture.

“I appreciate the cordial relationship between China and Nigeria and the tremendous developmental footprints you have made in our country,” Bassey told Jianchun.

“I believe similar cooperation can be extended to Akwa Ibom state in agriculture, education, vocational training, and infrastructure development.”

Bassey said collaborating with China would attract sustainable investments to Akwa Ibom.

Jianchun said China is ready to expand its partnerships across regions in Nigeria.

Jianchun added that China welcomes proactive leaders who seek development for their people.
