In a statement shared with TheCable, EIE Nigeria said it believes that “this month’s conversation will tell our story and reel the public in on our achievements in the past 10 years, as well as our goals and expectations for the next decade”.

“As a foremost civic-tech organisation leading the advocacy for fiscal transparency and accountability in Nigeria and three other African countries, BudgIT has moved beyond simplifying the budget and making it accessible for the citizens into facilitating budget reforms and effective service delivery through participatory governance, institutional engagements, open government partnerships and active citizen mobilisation at the national and sub-national levels,” the statement reads.

According to the statement, Onigbinde said having worked with several institutions in the last ten years, the organisation is thinking about the next innovation within the civic space.

“In the last ten years, we have worked on budget access and transparency, distributed budget documents to many Nigerians and improved service delivery in local communities,” he said.

“We have also worked around extractive and supporting institutions like the media, CSOs and the government. With a decade behind us, we are thinking about the next innovation within the civic space, and we want you to join in the celebration.”
