Shuaibu Isa Lau has been sworn-in as the senator representing Taraba north.

On June 23, the supreme court sacked Sani Danladi as senator representing the constituency after Lau challenged the decision of the court of appeal which upheld Danladi’s position as senator representing the district.

The panel of justices led by Walter Onnoghen, chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), held that Lau should be the representative of the district at the senate because he had the highest number of votes in the senatorial primary election of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The court, therefore, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to him.

Shaibu received the certificate of return on Tuesday alongside Dorothy Mato, who the court said was the rightful candidate representing Vandikwa/Konshisha federal constituency of Benue state at the house of representatives after it removed Herman Hembe.
