Shake up your cabinet, give room for referedum…Bakare’s message to Buhari

Shake up your cabinet, give room for referedum…Bakare’s message to Buhari

Tunde Bakare, serving overseer of Latter Rain Assembly (LRA), has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to shake up his cabinet and restructure the country.

Giving his ‘State of the Nation’ address on Sunday, Bakare said the wicked people surrounding the president must be shown the way out.

“May 29 this year will mark two full years of this administration in government. We have no more time to waste. Mr. President must galvanize his team to get the job done,” Bakare said.

“Square pegs in round holes must be removed or put in appropriate places; the wicked who surround the righteous must be led away from the presence of the king.

“Those who cannot stand the heat must get out of the kitchen. It is time to demonstrate leadership, wise judgment and astute public policy that guarantees stable and prosperous nationhood upon a foundation of peace; it is time to build a well-ordered nation with strong institutions dispensing justice.

“It is time to arise with patriotic zeal to build a great 28 nation such that, years from now, generations yet unborn will look back at their history, not with disdain, but with gratitude to God that our generation preceded theirs.”

GIVE ROOM FOR A REFERENDUM

Bakare also urged Buhari to give room for a referendum on Nigeria’s unity.

“Let the Nigerian people decide. From the United Kingdom’s European Union membership referendum, to the constitutional plebiscite in Italy, we have seen examples of how this is done.

“The notion that the Nigerian nation is non-negotiable will remain contested through agitations, until we summon enough courage to put it to the test, and prove, through the outcome, that we are indeed prepared to become a truly united nation.”

REPLACE 36 STATES WITH SIX ZONES

Using Israel as an example, he said the president must provide leadership and opportunity to restructure Nigeria.

“Israel began as 12 tribes and then transited to two kingdoms, the Kingdom of the North and the Kingdom of the South. Eventually, the two kingdoms became one nation with David as king over them.

“In like manner, we seek Nigeria’s transition from 36 states to 6 geopolitical zones that will become harbingers of a united nation led by patriotic and selfless leaders.”

Bakare insisted that the Buhari adminstration has a direction but he called on the CBN to discard the confusing exchange rate regime employed by the nation.

If Bakare really said this, which I presume he did, then we are finally there. And I concur with him “in Toto” in that respect.

The fool’s paradise, of the non-existing One Nigeria Unity Enclave that is non-negotiable and merited an indivisible status is serving nobodies interest. Infact it has become a big threat to the welfare of its citizens.
    Thanks

Nice one! But I beg to disagree with you! “One Nigeria” is serving the selfish interest of a few as presently constituted! I am sure if the terms of continued existence are reworked to give give a sense of belonging to each of the federating units, Nigeria will begin to exist as a country. Then, those who want to run fast can do so while those who want to walk can either do so or copy those who are running.

I doubt if it is really serving the interest of those few you meant.

If any of them could proudly and shamelessly take a picture or allow his/her/their picture to be superimposed into a group photograph of those innocent children emaciated to mare skeleton and pot belly, helplessly dying in IDP camps as exposed recently by Fisayo Soyombo of The Cable recently, and attest his/her/their signature on it, with the inscription “WE ARE ALL PROUD CITIZENS OF ONE NIGERIA UNITY”, then they would leave nobody in doubt that their interest is in earnest being served by the non-existing one Nigeria Unity.
        Thanks

I entirely acquiesce with u sir on d issue of Mr. P to shake up his cabinet and restructure Nigeria but what I entirely hold a disparities view on is the fact tha5 Mr. P shud restructure Nigeria back to 6 geo-political zones which were the breeding ground for internal slavery of the indigenous national minorities, political marginalization (lack of representation), economic rape and strangulations among others. I trust u may easily agree with that nothing short of confederalism will do Nigeria and Nigerians a great good.

I so asert because confederation is a system of government were every national ethnicity of which Nigeria is constituted therewith and or states or regions will be allowed to own their land, their resources and run their economy and political affairs by themselves and therewith pay tax to the center. under this system of government, each state or regions will be allowed to have their internal security systems-police, except that we will be United at the center with full military system, foreign affairs and other federal characters or agencies that will ensure that all states or regions live up to expectations. By so doing we will fast as a nation due relative competition among ourselves. mind u,when say region under this system of government I do not mean th “6 geopolitical regions” that bear proof of an unequal structure and injustice against the indigenous minorities.

Beyond every reasonable and imaginable doubt, u all know better than I do that,in the todday Nigeria, there is no part of Nigeria that does not have both minerals and humans resources for economic viability and sustainbility. Besides, we now live in a time were thriving nations no longer rely on the resources under our foot but on the resources we have upstairs.

A word is enough for the wise.
