Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) says the 2022 Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) of the Bonga Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel has been completed.

Abimbola Essien-Nelson, media relations manager, SNEPCo, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

SNEPCo is one of the production-sharing partners of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

The Bonga FPSO has a processing capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of crude oil.

In its last report, NNPCL said Bonny terminal recorded 3.5 million barrels of oil loss and a production loss of 658,085 barrels of oil due to repair works.

In the statement, SNEPCo, said the facility which was shut down to carry out statutory inspections, recertifications, and other critical asset integrity restoration activities, has resumed operations.

“Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) is pleased to announce that the 2022 Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) of the Bonga floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) has been completed,” the statement reads.

“The 225,000 bpd capacity FPSO was shut down on October 18, 2022, to carry out statutory inspections, recertifications, and other critical asset integrity restoration activities.

“The 2022 TAM, which was originally planned for 30 days, was completed in 22 days on November 9, 2022, thanks to excellent front-end planning and flawless execution.

“Commissioning and start-up activities are in progress and will culminate in the ramp-up of oil and gas production in the coming days.”

The FPSO vessel’s capacity has been upgraded over the years. The development allows SNEPCo to expand the field with further drilling of wells in Bonga Phase 2 and Phase 3 and through a subsea tie-back that unlocked the nearby Bonga north-west field.
