Ali Modu Sheriff, sacked national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says he will work with anti-corruption agencies to bring corrupt politicians, including those in his party to justice.

Sheriff said this in a statement issued by Bernard Mikko, his media aide.

Until last Wednesday, he held on to the leadership of the PDP. The supreme court declared Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic chairman of the party, nullifying the judgment of a lower court which upheld his position.

The party held an “expanded” caucus meeting at its headquarters in Abuja on Monday, but Sheriff said he was not invited.

“We will collaborate with global anti-corruption networks to bring all corrupt politicians in Nigeria to book, including PDP members having criminal cases bothering on dishonesty and malfeasance,” he said.

“Never again will corrupt politicians use the platform of our major political institutions to stardom. The party is for all and no one’s enterprise as government is conceived as an administrative state where dishonest politicians bask in democratic corruption.

“We, therefore, appeal to all our loyal supporters nationwide not to defect as we are still committed to bringing the party back to the grassroots.”‎
