Acting governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri on Tuesday paid a visit to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yola (pictured), where Lt. Col. Adeboye Obasanjo, son of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, is receiving treatment “in stable condition” after he was shot on Monday by Boko Haram militants.
The incident happened at Baza, a town in Michika local government area of Adamawa, where a platoon he led was attacked while trying to prevent the insurgents from capturing the town.
While two other officers were injured in the clash, 24 others were killed.
Fintri, who was received at the hospital by Doctor Aliyu Danburam, the chief medical director, commended officers and men of the Nigerian army for their efforts in containing insurgency in the state.
The doctor said all officers on admission were recuperating and in stable condition.
The security situation in the state has taken a low turn, as the insurgents who seemed to be preoccupied with neighbouring Borno state, have now shifted attention to communities in Adamawa.
Residents of Gulak and Michika say the towns fallen to Boko Haram. The latest town to fall is Madagali, whose residents fled to Yola, capital of Adamawa, on Tuesday.
