You shouldn’t have publicised Ekwueme’s treatment, Okupe slams FG
Doyin Okupe, former senior special assistant to ex-President Jonathan on public affairs, has taken an exception to the decision of the presidency to announce the assistance rendered to Alex Ekwueme, former vice-president.
On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari approved immediate overseas treatment for the ailing former number two citizen.
In a statement, Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, said Buhari offered to help after receiving a brief on the medical condition of the former vice-president.
Shehu had explained that the approval given by Buhari would cover the cost of chartering an air ambulance for the journey and the cost of his treatment.
But Okupe said there was no need for such “propaganda”.
“The press release on the evacuation of chief Ekwueme by FG is unnecessary, indecorus& unprofessional. there ar limits 2 propaganda,” he wrote on Twitter.

Ekwueme collapsed at his Enugu residence on Sunday and was admitted in hospital. He later lapsed into a coma.
Earlier in the week, the family of the octogenarian said he was stable.
