The Nigerian Army has arrested a soldier, Christopher Emmanuel, for allegedly assaulting a female vendor in Kula, Gwer west LGA of Benue state.
Abdullahi Osabo, acting assistant director, army public relations of the brigade, said the incident occurred on May 6.
Osabo said the altercation stemmed from claims of unpaid debt and allegations that the vendor insulted the soldier during a phone conversation.
He said the confrontation may have escalated into a physical altercation, adding that the army is probing the incident.
