Soldiers storm Badagry in search of militants

Security has been intensified in the Badagry area of Lagos state over reports that militants fled to the area due to the aerial bombardment of their camps by the air force.

Security agencies have  also been deployed in strategic areas, even as an Operation Mesa (OP MESA) van with eight soldiers was stationed at the Badagry roundabout carrying out surveillance.

One of the soldiers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told NAN that they were carrying out surveillance around the place.

“We are here on intelligence report that the militants that were chased out from Arepo had relocated here. So, we are here to make sure that everything is in order,” he said.

Also, some naval officers were patrolling the river close to Topo area of Badagry.

An official of the navy said the operation was to safeguard the waterways.

“Nobody is going to come through the waterways and we are here to ensure that nothing like that happens,” the official said.

Police officers from the Area K Command, comprising Morogbo and Badagry Division also patrolled the area.

Some of them were also stationed at strategic places to forestall any outbreak of law and order.
