Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra state, has congratulated the newly appointed service chiefs by President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu approved sweeping changes in the nation’s military leadership on Friday.

W. Shaibu, a major general, replaced Olufemi Oluyede, a lieutenant general, who was elevated to the chief of defence staff (CDS).

Sunday Kelvin Aneke, an air vice-marshal, became air chief, while Idi Abbas, a rear admiral, is the new naval chief.

In a statement on Sunday signed by Christian Aburime, his press secretary, Soludo described the appointments as a pivotal step towards strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.

Soludo expressed confidence in the leadership and experience the new military chiefs bring to their roles at a time when the country faces evolving security threats.

“It is imperative for the service chiefs to engage with all stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to tackling insecurity and securing the lives and properties of all Nigerians,” he said.
