The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the Anambra state governorship election slated for November 8.
A statement issued Wednesday by Sam Olumekun, the INEC national commissioner and chairman of the information and voter education committee, said a total of 16 political parties uploaded the particulars of their candidates by the deadline of May 12, 2025.
He said the African Democratic Congress (ADC), however, conducted a fresh primary election to replace its candidate while four parties — Accord (A), African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) — replaced their deputy governorship candidates.
Olumekun said 16 out of the 19 registered parties are participating in the election out of which the AAC and the National Rescue Movement (NRM) have nominated female candidates while six parties are fielding female running mates.
