South-east group earmarks N200m for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid

A political support group, South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), has earmarked N200 million to purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination form for President Bola Tinubu and fund campaign logistics ahead of the 2027 general election.

The announcement was made on Saturday in Owerri during the inauguration and empowerment of the Imo chapter of the group.

Belusochukwu Enwere, national coordinator of SERHA, said the group remains committed to Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and is intensifying grassroots mobilisation across the south-east.

“As ambassadors of Renewed Hope, we are tasked with working tirelessly towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

“Today, we present a cheque of N200 million for the purchase of the presidential nomination form and associated logistics.”

Enwere described Tinubu as a “performing president” whose administration has prioritised infrastructure, education, and inclusive governance in the region.

He highlighted the federal government’s $3 billion Eastern Rail Line project as a landmark intervention, saying it is the most significant infrastructure investment in the south-east.

“The rail line will boost trade, reduce transport costs, and address longstanding issues of marginalisation,” he said.

He also celebrated the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), noting that it would address erosion, road infrastructure, and regional development.

The SERHA coordinator paid tribute to notable leaders from Imo, such as the late Sam Mbakwe and Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, and praised Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, for his developmental strides.

The event featured the distribution of empowerment items such as motorcycles, mini buses, sewing machines, hairdressing kits, and cash to residents.

Enwere said the group will begin a grassroots tour of all 95 LGAs and 2,344 wards across the five south-east states in August.

“This is the turn of southern Nigeria to complete our eight years. The people of the south-east will not back down to ensure Tinubu’s victory in 2027,” he added.

He called on the people of the region to support the Tinubu administration’s programmes and policies as a pathway to long-term development.
