The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the south-west says its candidates will win the upcoming bye-elections in Oyo and Osun.
In a communiqué issued on Friday after a meeting in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo, the PDP caucus also expressed confidence in securing victory in the Lagos LG elections.
The Lagos LG poll is scheduled for Saturday, while the bye-elections will take place on August 16.
The caucus reaffirmed its loyalty to PDP’s unity, stability, progress and success at all levels.

“The Caucus reaffirms that the PDP in South West is intact and urges all Organs and relevant bodies of the Party to remain focused and continue to work assiduously towards the successful conduct of the scheduled National Convention to further strengthen and reposition the PDP for the task ahead,” the communiqué reads.
“The Caucus resolves to intensify efforts to ensure the victory of our great Party in the upcoming bye-elections in Oyo and Ogun States, as well as the Local Government Council election in Lagos State.
“The Caucus is confident that the PDP as a Party of choice in the South West and Nigeria at large will record a sweeping victory in the coming elections.”

The PDP stakeholders say they are not part of the opposition coalition, urging the party to remain united, steadfast and continue to stand behind leaders in the zone.
They commended Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, and Ademola Adeleke, his Osun counterpart, for their “untiring roles in ensuring the stability and growth of the PDP as the prominent political party in the south-west”.
The PDP members expressed support for the national working committee (NWC), adding that the party is open to “working with other well-meaning like-minded citizens in the collective effort to rescue our nation from the stranglehold” of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP caucus asked the federal government to immediately release the Osun state LG allocation that had been withheld.

“Withholding of the Osun State Local Government Allocation by the Federal Government is unconstitutional, unwarranted and a violation of the rights and well-being of the people of Osun State,” the caucus said.
They condemned the insecurity and economic hardship in the country, demanding urgent action from the federal government.
The PDP stakeholders urged Nigerians not to lose hope, but remain resolute and continue to rally with the PDP.
The communique was read by Sanya Atofarati, the PDP south-west zonal publicity secretary.
