Ayodele Fayose, former Ekiti state governor, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Fayose also backed Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid as governor of Ekiti ahead of the 2026 governorship poll.
Fayose, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), gave the endorsements on Monday during a rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Clad in a PDP-branded cap, Fayose reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, stating that despite his endorsement, he remains a committed member of the PDP with no intention of defecting.

“To endorse publicly, without reservation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. That is the reason why we are here,” he said.
“And to endorse our own governor. Humility personified, Abayomi Oyebanji, and his deputy for a second term
“This gathering is unique because all the former governors of this state, leaders, national assembly members, and all the people who matter in this state, including myself, unanimously, without hiding anywhere, [endorse Tinubu].

“I am not a member of this party (APC) and I will never be.”
Fayose’s open support for Tinubu and Oyebanji comes less than a week after he said the PDP could place fourth in the 2027 general election — a statement that has drawn internal criticism.
On Saturday, the PDP in Ekiti state called for Fayose’s resignation, accusing him of anti-party activities.
His endorsement adds to a growing support list for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

In June, leaders of the party in the south-south geopolitical zone backed Tinubu for re-election.
A month earlier, the Progressive Governors Forum adopted Tinubu as APC’s sole presidential candidate for 2027.
