Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, was recently seen at the O’DA Art Gallery booth during the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London.
The fair, which runs from October 16 to 19 at Somerset House, features a strong Nigerian presence, with galleries such as O’DA Art among the exhibitors.
The gallery’s exhibition, titled “Lines of Spirit”, showcases works by Nigerian artists Simon Ojeaga, Paul Majek, and Afeez Onakoya.

A video circulating on social media shows the minister addressing guests at the gallery.
Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, who also shared the video on X, confirmed that the minister is in the United Kingdom (UK).
“Finance minister Wale Edun visits an art exhibition in the UK. He is in the country for an officially sanctioned few days of rest from the rigours of managing the Nigerian economy,” Onanuga wrote on his X page.

Edun had been reported to be indisposed and was due to travel abroad for medical treatment.
On Sunday, Onanuga confirmed that the minister was indisposed.
As a result of Edun’s health condition, Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), led Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings in Washington DC, United States.
Edun reportedly left Abuja for Lagos on Monday night via commercial flight before travelling abroad for medical care.
