Tottenham striker, Harry Kane, scored his first goal in over 640 minutes of football as he helped Spurs come from behind to beat Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane.

Without captain Vincent Kompany, who couldn’t shrug off injury, and No. 1 goalkeeper, Joe Hart, who was left on the bench in favour of Willy Caballero, the champions lost two games in a row in the league.

City started the game the brighter side and forced Hugo Lloris into a couple of saves. But they were not to be denied in the 25th minute when new recruit Kevin De Bruyne broke free and drove in a low shot to give the visitors the lead.

De Bruyne became the culprit as his misplaced pass before the break enabled Eric Dier to strike from 30 yards out and level the scoreline.

Just five minutes after the break, Caballero was all over the place as Toby Alderweireld’s header made it 2-1 from a corner.

In the 61st minute, Kane scored from a Christian Eriksen’s free-kick which came off the post to beat Caballero. And with just over 10 minutes left, Clinton Njie passed the ball to Erik Lamela who dribbled past Caballero to complete the whitewash at White Hart Lane.

Manchester United swapped places with their city rivals at the top of the table after a 3-0 win against Sunderland.

Memphis Depay scored his first ever Premier League goal and Wayne Rooney notched his first league goal of the season as United eased to a comfortable victory at Old Trafford.

Juan Mata added a late third as United went top for the first time since August 2013.

Chelsea’s title defence continued to flounder as the champions needed two late goals to earn a 2-2 draw away to a Newcastle.

West Ham remains third after drawing 2-2 with Norwich, while Alexis Sanchez scored a hat trick as Arsenal rose to fourth after coming from behind to hammer Leicester 5-2.

The pressure on Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers eased after Daniel Sturridge scored his first goal since March in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa, while Southampton beat Swansea 3-1 and Stoke edged Bournemouth 2-1.
