Grace Adagba, executive chairperson of the Benue Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), says primary education in the state has been revitalised through the intervention of Hyacinth Alia, the governor.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Adagba said Alia’s administration, within two years, has revolutionised public education in Benue through infrastructural development, institutional reforms, and strategic investment in teachers.
She said SUBEB has enjoyed substantial backing and partnership from the Alia-led administration, paving the way for the execution of key projects to overhaul basic education across the state.

“In just two years, Governor Alia has demonstrated that purposeful leadership, combined with political will, can transform a failing education system into a beacon of hope,” she said.
Adagba highlighted the achievements, which include the renovation and construction of new school buildings, the provision of classroom furniture, and the installation of water supply systems and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) facilities in public schools.

She said these interventions have enhanced the physical learning environment, restored a sense of dignity, and renewed public confidence in public schools across Benue.
Adagba also noted the digital reforms introduced by the government, such as the rollout of an e-payment system for teachers, the establishment of both digital and traditional libraries, and the provision of modern instructional materials to schools.
“These initiatives are helping to bridge the digital divide and are reinforcing the state government’s commitment to inclusive and quality education,” she said.
