President Omar Hassan al-Bashir of Sudan has been sworn in for a new presidential term, extending his quarter-century rule.
Al-Bashir took the oath at a parliamentary session in Khartoum, capital of the country, at a ceremony witnessed by Presidents Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe), Uhuru Kenyatta (Kenya), Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (Egypt) and Arab leaders.
Bashir won 94 percent of the vote in a national election in April, which was the first since Sudan saw its south secede in 2011 but was boycotted by many opposition figure.
In 2010, the International Criminal Court (ICC) charged him with crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide during a violent suppression of rebellions in Darfur.
He denied all the charges and the Sudanese government subsequently said it did not recognise the ICC.
Bashir came to power through a bloodless military coup in 1989.
