Two suicide bombers killed themselves while attempting to attack a hospital in the Mule area of Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.

A source, who disclosed the incident to TheCable, said it happened in the early hours of the day.

The source said the building through which they tried to gain access to the hospital was damaged but none of the residents was killed.

“They attempted to access the hospital through a residential building in Mule,” he said.

“The attackers were a male and a female. As they were struggling, the bomb attached to them went off. Luckily, only the evil people were killed.”

Another source told TheCable that there was a suicide attack in another part of the ancient town.

Details of the incident are not clear but the Borno police command has promised to address reporters later.

Boko Haram has continued to carry out attacks, especially in Borno, despite the claims of the military that the sect has been “technically” defeated.

After a major attack last month, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo directed service chiefs to relocate to the north-east.

It was President Muhammadu Buhari who first gave the directive upon his assumption of power.
