Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development, says investment in the youth in terms of proper education is the right way to prepare them for leadership roles.

Dare said this on Monday at the commencement of a 29-day leadership programme with the theme, ‘Youth Leadership with a Difference,’ which is taking place in Abuja.

The minister said the youth are the leaders of tomorrow and they must be provided with the requisite knowledge and skills to act in leadership capacities.

“The Investments in our youth must begin today. They are leaders in the making. To be leaders today, we must provide them the knowledge and skills to be leaders today. The journey to good leadership begins with proper education,” he said.

“Good leaders can only be raised with the right education. The youth are the bridge generation linking the old  generation  to those coming behind them.”

He commended Anya O Anya, chairman of the board of the Nigerian Prize for Leadership (NPL), for organising the programme.

Dare said his ministry is set to take 500,000 youth on a two-year digital training, adding that the N75 billion Nigerian Youth Investment Fund will support youth entrepreneurs in the country.
