Super Eagles arrive Asaba after picking 2019 AFCON ticket

Super Eagles players landed in Asaba, Delta state, at 11:14am on Sunday after picking the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations ticket in the qualifying match against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

The team and contingent arrived at the Asaba International airport after a 7 and half hours trip from OR Tambo International airport in Johannesburg.

The chartered Max Air Boeing B737-300/500 aircraft had a one-hour 17 minutes stop over in Luanda, Angola after 3 hours 15 minutes flight for refuelling and mechanical check up.

The three-time African champions forced a 1-1 draw against South Africa at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Nigeria will be appearing at the African showpiece after missing out in the last two editions of the tourney.

Nigeria top group E with 10 points from five games.

The Nigerian side will now shift focus to Tuesday’s international friendly against Ugandan Cranes at the Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba.

Brighton and Hoves FC defender, Leon Balogun who suffered a knock on Saturday did not travel with the team but left for England after been excused by the coach.

TheCable was also reliably informed by one of the coaching crew that FC Leganes defender, Kenneth Omeruo has been excused from the Tuesday game and will leave for his Spanish base on arrival in Asaba.
