Super Eagles kicked off their preparations for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with a first training session at Fulham FC Mortspur Park training centre on Monday evening.

All 30 shortlisted players were in camp and attended the session that lasted for nearly two hours.

Coaches Daniel Amokachi and Valerie Houdenmou took the light work-out before the former led the players in heavy ball work.

Returnees Osaze Odemwingie and Joseph Yobo looked at home, heavily involved in the banter before the proper work started.

After the exercise drills and work-out, the team broke out into a full match scenario.

Godfrey Oboabona and Kenneth Omeruo resumed their partnership in central defence for one side while Azubuike Egwuekwe partnered Yobo for the other side.

In the lively training, Odemwegie moved on to a superb pass hit first time by Mikel Obi, slalomed inside Egwuekwe and released a shot brilliantly tipped over by Austin Ejide in goal.

Ramon Azeez looked very sharp and seemed very comfortable. One turn in the centre-circle saw him lose three defenders and release Obinna Nsofor wide right..

At the end, Stephen Keshi said he felt “very satisfied with the work-out seeing it is our first training session, the players have rested after a long season and they will get sharper”.

Earlier in the day the team had been invited by the Nigerian High Commissioner to UK for lunch.

The Nigerian team will take on Scotland in a friendly on Wednesday.
