Super Eagles to play world champions Argentina in March

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are scheduled to play Argentina in a friendly game in March. 

The Argentinian Football Association (AFA) announced the fixture in a statement on its website in the early hours of Tuesday.

The reigning world champions will face Nigeria as part of their “friendly tour of China”, which will be held between March 18 and 26.

Argentina will play the Super Eagles in their first game of the tour at the Olympics Sports Center stadium in Hangzhou.

The date for the encounter is yet to be announced.

The Albiceleste will also play the Ivory Coast in Beijing in a second game before the tour ends.

“The Argentine National Team already knows the rivals it will face in the friendly tour of China, to be played from March 18 to 26,” the statement reads.

“Lionel Scaloni’s team will face Nigeria at the Olympics Sports Center stadium in Hangzhou.

“The second match will be against the Ivory Coast at the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing.

“The date of both meetings will be announced in the next few hours.”

The Eagles are participating in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. The team have qualified for the quarter-final, where they will face Angola on Friday.

Argentina are the world champions. They defeated France in the final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup to win their third world title.
