Super Falcons of Nigeria have been drawn against South Africa, Burundi, and Botswana for the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

In the draw ceremony which was held in Rabat on Friday evening, the Super Falcons are placed in group C for the biennial football continental showpiece.

The Randy Waldrum ladies will once again face South African ladies in a repeat of the 2018 edition held in Ghana.

The Banyana Banyana pipped the Falcons 1-0 in their opening group game — but lost to the Nigerian side in the final via penalty shootouts.

Morocco, the host nation, will open their campaign against Burkina Faso in group A. Senegal and Uganda are the other contenders for the knockout round in the group.

The 14th edition of the AWCON is scheduled to take place from July 2 to 23, 2022.

The tournament will determine the qualifiers that will represent Africa at the Australia/New Zealand 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup.

The 2022 AWCON group pairings:

Group A: Morocco, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Uganda

Group B: Cameroon, Zambia, Tunisia, Togo

Group C: Nigeria, South Africa, Burundi, Botswana

The Super Falcons have won the past three women’s nations cups and are record nine-time champions.
