Ngozi Okobi-Oke, Eskilstuna United attacking midfielder, has attributed the Super Falcons’ 8-0 loss to France to a lack of adequate preparation.

The African Women’s Cup of Nations champions were roundly drubbed by the European side at the Stade MMArena on Friday.

Okobi, who featured in the game, described the defeat as a “bitter pill to swallow”.

“Yes, I know that in a game of football, you lose some and win some. But this not really good for us as players,” Okobi told TheCable.

“It was very demoralising and a bitter pill to swallow. The goals were just too much.

“If it had ended at maybe 3-0, that would have been fine. But 8-0 is not good at all.

The Sweden-based playmaker called for more friendlies to put the Falcons in great shape.

“It all boils down to lack of preparation,” the former Delta Queens star said.

“We need more training together as a team for us to improve.

“We also need more friendlies to really compete well at the world level.”
