Some suspected ritualists have been arrested by the Oyo police command for the killings in Akinyele area of the state.

Fatai Owoseni, special adviser to the state governor on security, who disclosed this while addressing a town hall meeting in Akinyele on Wednesday, said the suspects would soon be paraded by the police.

The number of suspects arrested was not mentioned.

Owoseni said the government and security agencies have taken all necessary steps to ensure that the killings do not occur again.

“Even though there is no town where there is no sin, I can assure you as I speak that the perpetrators of the killings in Akinyele have been apprehended,” he said.

“As of yesterday, the criminals have been apprehended and the commissioner of police would possibly hold a press conference today.

“But I can specifically tell you that the person behind it has taken police to the ritualists and they are now behind bars.”

He urged residents to be security conscious, noting that they also have a role to play in ensuring that their environments are secured.

Other stakeholders at the meeting also advised residents not to cover up vices, and to avoid leaving their children alone in deserted areas.

Within a month, at least five people including a pregnant woman and two students were hacked to death in the community.
