The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has lauded the Kwara state government for erecting West Africa’s tallest flagpole — a 70-meter structure.
Lanre Issa-Onilu, director general of the NOA, said the flagpole stands as a symbol of unity and patriotism.
He said the flag flying high not only represents Nigeria’s sovereignty but also embodies the collective spirit and unity of Kwara’s diverse communities.
“As the agency tasked with promoting national values and orientation, we commend the Kwara State Government for creating this landmark that showcases our nation’s rich cultural heritage and drives socioeconomic development,” Onilu said.

Onilu described it as a cultural yardstick, reflecting Nigeria’s dynamic spirit and the harmonious blend of its ethnic diversity.
The DG also highlighted the flagpole’s economic potential, noting that it could attract tourism, investment, and development to the state.
