Tanker catches fire at filling station in Lagos

A fuel tanker on Wednesday caught fire while attempting to offload its content at a filling station on Old Akute Road in Obawole, Iju Ishaga, Lagos.

The fire incident reportedly started from a building located behind the filling station at about 6pm.

The Lagos Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.

According to Jubril Gawat, an aide to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, the fire was extinguished, noting that operations were ongoing to ensure that the area remains safe.

Gawat said four fire trucks were deployed to the scene from Agege, Ikeja, and Alausa headquarters, adding that officials were swift and coordinated in their response to the emergency.

He commended the efforts of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service for their effective handling of the situation.
